It is best to store most jewellery in an airtight container, tarnishing is due to moisture, over time that reacts with metals within the jewellery. Sterling silver jewellery exposed to air can also tarnish.
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. It is the other metals that cause sterling silver to tarnish. The copper reacts to moisture and sulphur in the air, causing the sterling silver tarnish.
In the event of tarnishing and to keep it at bay use a tarnish free jewellery cloth to keep your jewellery looking great!
Just remember sterling silver loves to be worn, its perfect for everyday wear as its more durable than pure silver AND the oils in your skin clean the surface of the jewellery so it looks better with wear. Win Win!
